Sporting Horse Stud was formed in 1991 and from humble beginnings has grown both in size and stature, it is now widely recognised as one of the country's foremost breeders of competition horses.

It all began with one well bred 3 year old TB colt called Devils Jump who combines top class eventing bloodlines, outstanding conformation and athletic paces. His offspring quickly made their mark in the show ring and have gone on to perform brilliantly under saddle. Despite the geographical limitaions of standing in Cornwall he now attracts a top class book of mares from all over the United Kingdom. His offspring are most sought after by both show producers and event riders alike.

Even from day one the stud recognised the need for top class broodmares. Whilst so many places set off with failed racehorses and unsuccessful competion mares, Sporting Horse Stud followed a strict breeding policy purchasing a select band of english and continental mares with the very best pedigree's and/or credentials for successful competition horse breeding. Indeed, their foundation mare was short listed for the Irish Three Day Event Team for both the World Championships in Stockholm and the Barcelona Olympics. Sadly an injury curtailed her eventing and a quick career change turned her into one of the country's leading show hunter brood mares.

Having identified the growing popularity of continental bloodlines, the stud bought an impeccably bred hanoverian stallion called Amerigo Vespucci to stand alongside Devil's Jump. Sadly, following an accident we lost Amerigo in 2005.

During the same year a colt foal was born at the stud and was quickly identified as having serious stallion potential. He is called Devil At Daybreak and has been retained. He has already won major championships all over the country in show/sport horse and loose jumping classes. Due to training commitments his first season at public stud will be in 2006. Thereafter he will combine stud duties with a competion career under saddle.

In 2004 the stud was offered a unique opportunity to purchase Aubrillo, a leading Selle Francais stallion from France. This world class sire has stock competing internationally and is a 5/8ths brother to the late, great Dallas, one of Britain's most successful sport horse stallions ever.
